Zur Kanzel

Grebenstraße 4, 55116 Mainz-Altstadt, t +49-6131-237137

A cosy and familial restaurant with modern German cuisine and very friendly and heartily service. You feel very welcome. One of the better restaurants in Mainz, not easy to find something similar there. Prices are moderate, booking is an advantage. Try the Weissburgunder from Tesch they offer.

Weingut Frank

www.weingutfrank.at
Kellergasse 5 & 11, A-2171 Herrenbaumgarten, t +43-2555/2300

Vineyard in Herrenbaumgarten, in the Weinviertel near the Czech border and only an hour drive north of Vienna.

Very good Austrian red(!) wines, try those from the oak casks. Plus very nice traditional whites, for example the Weinviertel DAC Gruener Veltliner.

Harry, the wine maker, is offering very friendly and informative wine samplings. It's worth going there and stay overnight at one of the B&B's in Herrenbaumgarten or in the wellness and golf hotel Veltlin just outside the village.

Together with other young wine makers from the region Harry also maintains a blog: www.winzerblog.at (German)

Cafe bar XL

Cafe bar XL, Svetog Križa bb, Rovinj, Croatia, t +385 (0)98 814 445
N 45º05,1' E 013º37,5'

One of the most peaceful and nicest places I have been to in a long time. Positioned in a beautiful garden with cypresses just underneath the church Sv. Eufemija the XL cafe offers great coffee, loungy music and a fantastic view on the Adriatic see. Defnitely a time trap. Once you sit down you will never want to leave again.

Martin Pescador

Vl. Vlacic Patrik, Trget 20, Trget, Croatia, t 052-544 976
N 45º01,4' E 014º03,4'

Nice restaurant in the small town of Trget with a great view on Trget fjord. Sail up the fjord and after a few tacks and jibes you will find the restaurant at the end. There are some anchor buoys and a small mole that is mostly used by excursion boats.

Service is friendly, fish is fresh and will be brought to your table on ice to chose from yourself, prices are moderate. Try the mussels they are coming from Martin's own mussel farm in the fjord.
